一叶知秋

今天是24节气中的第13个：立秋。立秋标志着夏天渐行渐远，秋天开始了；所以，立秋用英文就是 Beginning of Autumn。

唐朝杜牧有一首描写秋夜的诗《秋夕》：银烛秋光冷画屏，轻罗小扇扑流萤；天阶夜色凉如水，卧看牵牛织女星。

《秋夕》是一首宫怨诗，描写了七夕之夜，一名孤独的宫女百般聊赖的苦闷心情。

我们来学习一下它的英文版：

Autumn has chilled the painted screen in candlelight，A palace maid uses a fan to catch fireflies；The steps seem steeped in water when cold grows the night，She sits to watch two stars in love meet in the sky.

● 与"秋"有关的表达

1. 在秋天：

in autumn / fall，或者 in the autumn / fall，都是没有问题的，但不可以说 in the autumns。

2. 树叶：

秋天，树叶向往大地，纷纷开始离开树枝；中文有"一叶知秋"的成语，比喻发现一点预兆就料到事情发展的趋势；

这个成语可以直译为：

The falling of one leaf heralds the coming of autumn. (herald：预示，宣布)

也可以意译为：

A small sign can indicate a great trend. (小迹象预示大趋势)

或者也可以用 a straw in the wind (风中的稻草)，有那么一点点"山雨欲来风满楼"的味道。

树叶落了，总会再有新叶长出，英文用 turn over a new leaf 来表示即将有新的开始，或者改过自新；
